UV Parasols for Every Outdoor Day

Blocks 99% of UV rays. Keeps you up to 8°C cooler. Melanoma International Foundation approved. Every UV-Blocker sun parasol is built around our patented Solarteck® silver reflective coating, lab tested to the AATCC TM183-2020 standard: 100% UVB block, 99.97% UVA block, dermatologist recommended. Whether you need a compact model for the daily commute, a full-size parasol for maximum coverage or a beach umbrella, there's a UV parasol here for you.

The secret is the Solarteck® fabric system. The silver top reflects both UV and heat before they reach the canopy, creating a genuinely cooler patch of shade, not just a darker one, while the navy underside absorbs UV reflected up off the ground. It's the same UV umbrella technology behind the only golf umbrella approved by the Melanoma International Foundation.

Our sun parasol range covers travel, the beach, golf, the school run and the daily walk, with UPF 50+ protection on every model and prices in Australian dollars.

Sun Safety in Australia

Two in three Australians will be diagnosed with skin cancer by the age of 70, according to Cancer Council Australia. SunSmart recommends sun protection whenever the UV Index is 3 or above, which in northern Australia is all year round and in Victoria typically runs from mid-August to the end of April. ARPANSA publishes live UV readings for Australian capital cities at arpansa.gov.au.

Shade is one of SunSmart's five sun protection steps, and Safe Work Australia's guidance treats solar UV as a workplace hazard for outdoor workers, with shade among the recommended controls. A UPF 50+ parasol gives you that shade wherever you are. Use it with clothing, a hat, sunscreen and sunglasses.

FAQ's

Frequently Asked Questions

What size sun parasol should I get?

It depends on how you'll carry it and who you're shading. The Compact UV Parasol (107 cm arc, 425 g) folds to 29 cm for a handbag. The Large Folding UV Parasol has a 147 cm arc that covers two people and still folds to 51 cm. For the golf course, the golf umbrellas have 157 cm and 173 cm arcs, and for the beach there's a 1.8 m personal umbrella and a 2.3 m family umbrella.

Do sun parasols actually block UV?

Yes, when the fabric is tested and rated. Every UV-Blocker parasol is UPF 50+ and lab tested to block 100% of UVB and 99.97% of UVA passing through the canopy. Use it with clothing, a hat, sunscreen and sunglasses, because UV also reflects up off sand, water and concrete.

Does a parasol keep you cooler?

Yes. The reflective silver top reflects heat as well as UV, so you can stay up to 8°C cooler than standing in direct sun. You'll notice it most on long walks, at the beach and anywhere without natural shade.

Can I use a sun parasol in the rain?

Yes. Every UV-Blocker parasol doubles as a rain umbrella, so one umbrella handles harsh sun and a passing shower. Let it dry open before you fold it away.

What does UPF 50+ mean on a parasol?

UPF measures how much UV passes through fabric. UPF 50+ means less than 1/50th gets through, so at least 98% is blocked, and 50+ is the highest rating under Australia's AS/NZS 4399 standard for sun protective fabrics. Every parasol in this range is UPF 50+.

Do you ship to Australia?

Yes. Prices are shown in Australian dollars. Orders ship from Pennsylvania, USA with UPS or DHL, usually the next business day, and freight to your address is calculated at checkout. You can return within 30 days for a refund or exchange.
