UV-Blocker Resource Hub Canada: UV Umbrella Guides, Products & Research
UV-Blocker Resource Library for Canada
From UPF 50+ sun umbrellas to umbrella holders and UV-blocking accessories, UV-Blocker's premium range is all here. Scroll down for the complete library.
A UV-Blocker sun umbrella is engineered to stop harmful UV radiation, which is more than ordinary shade can promise. Ron Walker founded the company in 2005 following his own Stage 1 melanoma diagnosis, and each product still serves a single purpose: portable, medical-grade sun protection. This hub brings our guides, product pages and research articles together in one spot.
Every UV-Blocker umbrella is made with fabric finished in the patented Solarteck® silver reflective coating, independently tested to block 99% of UV rays. Under AATCC TM183-2020 testing the fabric earns a UPF 50+ rating, stopping 100% of UVB and 99.97% of UVA radiation. The coating reflects sunlight instead of absorbing it, so the air beneath the canopy measures up to 8°C (15°F) cooler than in direct sun.
Dermatologists recommend UV-Blocker for patients living with photosensitive conditions like lupus, PMLE and rosacea, and it is the only golf umbrella brand approved by the Melanoma International Foundation. Health Canada's advice is to seek shade when the UV Index is high, and an umbrella counts as shade you can bring along.
Choose from compact 107 cm (42 in) travel umbrellas, 157 cm (62 in) and 173 cm (68 in) golf umbrellas, or beach umbrellas from 1.8 m (6 ft) to 2.3 m (7.5 ft). A patented vented mesh double canopy on every model lets gusts escape instead of flipping the umbrella. The canopy itself is RPET fabric made from recycled plastic bottles.
The 241 resources listed below include UV safety guides, product comparisons, sun protection research and in-depth details on each UV-Blocker product.

UV Umbrella FAQs for Canada
Answers from our team to frequent questions about UV umbrellas and sun safety in Canada.
What makes a UV umbrella different from a regular umbrella?
A UV umbrella is built specifically to block ultraviolet radiation, though it handles rain too. Regular umbrellas stop about 77% of UV rays, with fabric colour and weave making the difference. UV-Blocker umbrellas carry a patented Solarteck® silver reflective coating that blocks 99% of UV rays (UPF 50+) and bounces heat away, keeping you up to 8°C (15°F) cooler beneath the canopy.
What does a UPF 50+ rating tell you about a UV umbrella?
Ultraviolet Protection Factor, or UPF, measures how much UV gets through a fabric. At UPF 50+, less than 1/50th of UV radiation passes through, which means at least 98% of rays are blocked. UV-Blocker umbrellas go beyond that standard, with independent AATCC TM183-2020 testing confirming 100% UVB and 99.97% UVA blocking.
Can a sun umbrella stand in for sunscreen?
Not completely. An umbrella shields you well from overhead sun but can't block UV reflected up from the ground, water or sand, so dermatologists recommend using it with sunscreen. Health Canada likewise advises seeking shade and using SPF 30+ sunscreen. For anyone whose skin condition makes sunscreen hard to tolerate, a UPF 50+ umbrella like UV-Blocker offers significant direct-sun coverage.
Are UV-Blocker umbrellas built to handle wind?
They are. A patented vented mesh double-canopy system is built into every UV-Blocker umbrella, letting gusts flow through the dual layers instead of catching the canopy and flipping it inside out. That's why they work well on windy beaches and golf courses and on walks, in sun or rain.
Do US payment programs apply to orders shipped to Canada?
Those accounts belong to the US health system rather than a Canadian program. For Canadian orders, UV-Blocker umbrellas are priced in CAD and ship from Pennsylvania, usually the next business day, with freight calculated at checkout.
Which UV umbrella works best for lupus and other medical conditions?
As the only umbrella brand approved by the Melanoma International Foundation, UV-Blocker is recommended by dermatologists for lupus, PMLE, rosacea and other photosensitive conditions. The 107 cm (42 in) compact is a popular everyday pick because it slips into a purse or bag, and the 147 cm (58 in) large folding umbrella adds coverage for longer days outside.
